Bernardino Mei (1612-1676) was an Italian composer, singer, and organist of the Baroque era. He was born in Borgo San Sepolcro, Tuscany, and received his early musical training under Giovanni Antonio Bernabei and Giovanni Ghizzolo. Mei became a prolific composer of sacred music, including oratorios, masses, vespers, and motets. He also composed secular works, such as chamber music, cantatas, and operas. As a singer, he performed in various Italian cities, including Rome, Florence, and Venice. Later in life, Mei became a teacher of music theory and composition, and his treatise Il Genio Musicale Imitativo ("The Imitative Musical Genius") was published in 1666. He died in Florence in 1676.
